Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Cognify Labs Pty Ltd for using Assetwise. We've written them in plain English and kept them fair. Please read them — especially what Assetwise is and isn't, how the AI features work, and how paid plans renew.

Effective 8 October 2026 Last updated 8 October 2026 Cognify Labs Pty Ltd

The short version

  • Assetwise keeps and compares your own records. It's general information — not financial, insurance, legal or tax advice — and it doesn't recommend or arrange insurance.
  • The AI can be wrong. Every extracted value shows where it came from, and you confirm it before it's saved. Your original documents and policy wording always win.
  • Your content stays yours. We only use it to run Assetwise for you.
  • Paid plans are annual and renew automatically. We'll email you before each renewal, and you can turn off renewal at any time.
  • Change your mind? A full refund within 7 days of your first purchase.
  • Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law always apply. Nothing in these terms takes them away.

01About these terms

Assetwise is provided by Cognify Labs Pty Ltd (ACN 683 272 228 · ABN 39 683 272 228) of 339 Bobbin Head Road, North Turramurra NSW 2074, Australia ("we", "us", "our"), the team behind AdviceGenie. These terms apply when you create an account, use the Assetwise platform at /app/, or buy a paid plan. Using the website and the demo at /demo/ is also covered by sections 5, 6, 8, 15 and 16.

By creating an account you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't create an account.

"You" means the person using Assetwise. In these terms, "your register" means the records, documents and photos kept in your household.

02Early access

Assetwise is in early access. During early access every account can use every feature, and the plan limits on our pricing page don't yet apply. Paid plans are marked "Coming soon" until they launch.

When paid plans launch, we'll tell you by email and in the app at least 30 days before plan limits start to apply to your account. Nothing in your register is deleted when that happens — see Plans, prices and payment.

Because the service is new, features may change more often than they will later. We'll tell you about changes that affect you, as section 12 describes.

03Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • Give us accurate details, including a working email address, and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password private and don't share your sign-in with anyone. Add people to your household instead (section 4).
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account unless it results from our failure to take reasonable security measures.
  • Tell us straight away at info@advicegenie.com.au if you think someone else has accessed your account.

04Households and members

  • The person who creates a household is its owner. The owner chooses the plan, pays for it, and can add or remove members, change their access and delete the household.
  • Members can see everything in the household's register. Members with edit access can change it; view-only members can't.
  • Only add people you trust, and only with their agreement. The owner is responsible for who they add and what access they give.
  • Each member agrees to these terms when they sign in for the first time.
  • Someone who pays for your plan (for example, an adviser or employer) does not get access to your register by paying. Only your own consent gives anyone else access.

05What Assetwise is — and isn't

Assetwise is a tool for recording what you own and organising the documents that go with it. Everything it shows is general information worked out from the records and documents you give it.

  • Not financial or insurance advice. We aren't an insurer or an insurance broker, and we don't hold an Australian Financial Services Licence. Assetwise doesn't recommend, arrange or sell insurance or any financial product, and it doesn't consider your objectives, financial situation or needs.
  • Coverage comparisons are arithmetic, not opinions. When Assetwise compares the values you've recorded with a policy's sum insured, or shows which PDS clauses relate to an item, it is comparing your records — it isn't telling you whether you're covered or how much cover to hold. Only your insurer decides a claim, under its policy wording.
  • Not tax advice. We aren't a registered tax agent. "Tax-relevant" figures are your own statements of work or business use, multiplied out. Whether anything is deductible depends on your circumstances and the ATO's rules.
  • Warranties and your legal rights. Warranty dates in Assetwise come from your documents, or from a default period marked "Needs confirmation" when none is stated. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law against a seller or manufacturer can last longer than any warranty period, and Assetwise doesn't decide them.
  • Card insurance is only ever "potential". Card-linked cover depends on the card provider's terms and eligibility rules, which Assetwise can't confirm.
  • Values are estimates. Current values, depreciation and rebuild figures are estimates based on what you've recorded. They aren't valuations.
Check your policy documents before relying on anything Assetwise shows, and speak to a licensed professional for advice about your situation.

06AI features and accuracy

Some features use AI to read your documents, summarise PDS clauses and answer questions about your records. AI is useful but it makes mistakes — it can misread a figure, miss a clause, or connect a document to the wrong asset.

  • Each extracted value is shown with a confidence score and the page it came from, and nothing is saved to your register until you confirm it. Please check it.
  • PDS summaries and assistant answers cite the document and page they're based on. The original document always prevails over a summary or answer.
  • Reminders depend on the dates in your register being right. They are a convenience, not a guarantee — please don't rely on Assetwise as your only reminder for an important renewal.

How the AI handles your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

07Your content

  • You own your content — the records, documents, photos and questions you put into Assetwise.
  • You give us permission to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to provide Assetwise to you and your household: to keep your register, read your documents, send reminders, create exports, keep backups and keep the service secure. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for the time-limited backups described in our Privacy Policy.
  • We don't sell your content, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
  • You confirm that you're entitled to upload what you upload, and that doing so doesn't break anyone else's rights or the law. If a document includes other people's information, please only upload it if you're entitled to.
  • If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Assetwise without owing you anything. Your feedback doesn't give us any extra rights over your register.

08Acceptable use

Please use Assetwise for its purpose: keeping records of things you and your household own or are responsible for. You must not:

  • upload anything unlawful, or anything containing malware;
  • upload other people's documents or personal information without the right to do so;
  • try to access another household's data, or anyone else's account;
  • probe, scan or test the security of Assetwise without our written permission (if you find a vulnerability, please report it to us — we welcome that);
  • overload the service, get around plan limits or usage limits, or use automated tools to access it other than through features we provide;
  • copy, resell, or build a competing service from Assetwise; or
  • use Assetwise to mislead anyone — for example, to support a false insurance claim.

09Plans, prices and payment

This section applies once paid plans launch.

Plans

Assetwise has a Free plan and paid annual plans. What each plan includes — for example the number of insurance policies, properties and AI scans, file sizes and daily limits — is shown on our pricing page and in the app when you choose a plan. That description forms part of these terms.

  • Free costs nothing and has no time limit.
  • Plus and Portfolio are billed once a year in advance. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. We'll give you a tax invoice.
  • Enterprise and white-label arrangements are agreed separately in writing.
  • Allowances such as AI scans are for one plan year. Unused allowances don't carry over to the next year.

Payment and renewal

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method through Stripe.
  • Paid plans renew automatically for another year at the end of each plan year, unless you turn off renewal before the renewal date.
  • We'll email you at least 30 days before each renewal with the amount and the date, and a link to turn off renewal.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe will try again for a short period. If it still can't be collected, your household moves to the Free plan.

Changing plans

  • Upgrading (Plus to Portfolio) takes effect straight away. You pay the difference for the rest of your plan year.
  • Downgrading takes effect at your next renewal date.
  • Moving to a smaller plan never deletes anything. If your register has more than a plan allows, everything stays readable, editable and exportable — you just can't add more of that kind of record until you're under the limit or you upgrade.

Price changes

We may change prices for future plan years. We'll tell you at least 30 days before your renewal date. A new price never applies to a plan year you've already paid for. If you don't want to continue at the new price, turn off renewal before the renewal date.

10Cancelling and refunds

Turning off renewal

You can turn off renewal at any time in Settings → Plan, which opens Stripe's billing page. Your paid plan keeps working until the end of the plan year you've paid for, then your household moves to the Free plan and keeps everything in it.

Change-of-mind refund

If you change your mind within 7 days of your first purchase of a paid plan, email us and we'll refund it in full. Because the refund puts things back to before you paid, it closes the account and permanently deletes the household and everything in it. Before we process it we'll confirm with you and give you the chance to export your register first.

Outside that window, we don't give refunds for change of mind or for part of a plan year that wasn't used, except as set out in sections 11, 12 and 14.

The change-of-mind refund is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If something goes wrong with the service, you may be entitled to a remedy — including a refund — whatever these terms say. See the next section.

11Your consumer rights

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For example, services must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for any purpose you've made known to us, and be supplied within a reasonable time.

For a major failure with the service, you are entitled to cancel your contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure doesn't amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes those rights, or any other right you have under law that can't be excluded. Where these terms seem to say otherwise, the law wins.

12Availability and changes to the service

  • We work to keep Assetwise available and reliable, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance, ideally at quiet times and with notice where we can.
  • We improve Assetwise over time, which means features may change. If we make a change that significantly reduces what your paid plan includes during a plan year you've paid for, we'll tell you first, and you can cancel and get a pro-rata refund of the unused part.
  • We may set reasonable usage limits to keep the service fair and secure for everyone — for example, daily upload limits and limits on very large documents. Current limits are shown in the app.

13Keep your own copies

We take care to protect your data, including encrypted storage and backups. Even so, Assetwise shouldn't be the only place your most important documents exist. Please keep the originals of anything you can't easily replace — for example, keep insurer emails and statutory documents — and use the export in Settings from time to time to keep your own copy of your register.

14Suspending or closing accounts

You

You can stop using Assetwise at any time. A household owner can permanently delete the household in Settings. Deleting the household doesn't automatically cancel a paid plan's renewal — please turn off renewal first (or contact us and we'll do it).

Us

  • We may suspend or close an account if it seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, if it puts the security of Assetwise or other users at risk, or if the law requires it. Unless it's urgent or unlawful to do so, we'll tell you first, explain why, and give you a reasonable chance to fix the problem or export your register.
  • If we close your account and you haven't broken these terms, we'll refund the unused part of any plan year you've paid for.
  • If we ever decide to stop providing Assetwise, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice so you can export your register, and refund the unused part of any paid plan year.

After an account is closed, your data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

15Our liability

This section is subject to section 11 — it never limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded.

  • To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for loss that results from relying on information in Assetwise without checking it against the original documents — for example, a value the AI misread and you confirmed, a reminder based on a wrong date you entered, or an insurer's decision about a claim.
  • We aren't liable for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of the internet, a third party's systems, or events like natural disasters.
  • To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss — loss that wasn't a reasonably foreseeable result of our failure.
  • Where the law lets us limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
  • Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the loss.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, for our failure to comply with privacy law, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

16Our intellectual property

Assetwise — its software, design, text, the Assetwise and AdviceGenie names and logos — belongs to Cognify Labs Pty Ltd or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use Assetwise under these terms. Your content remains yours (section 7). The demo uses a fictional household: any resemblance to real people is coincidental.

17Other services

Assetwise links to or relies on other services — for example Stripe for payments, and insurers', retailers' or government websites you may open from your register. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to how you use them, and we aren't responsible for their content or services.

18Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, where it's stored, and how to access, correct, export or delete it.

19Changes to these terms

We may update these terms — for example, when we launch paid plans or new features, or when the law changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

  • For changes that matter to you, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app before they take effect.
  • If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using Assetwise and close your account before it takes effect. If the change disadvantages you and you've paid for a plan year, we'll refund the unused part.
  • Changes that only benefit you, or that the law requires immediately, may take effect sooner.

20Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem, please contact us first — most things can be sorted out quickly. Tell us what's wrong and what you'd like us to do, and we'll respond within 10 business days.

If we can't resolve it together, you can contact your state or territory's fair trading or consumer affairs agency, and you keep any other right you have under law.

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales and the Commonwealth have jurisdiction. This doesn't stop you from relying on the consumer protection laws of the state or territory where you live.
